Why do some pages open in a new tab or window, whilst others re-use the existing page?

Where the page requested is on the site then the existing page will be re-used. When you have finished on that page the menu bar at the
top will allow you to return to the Home page or indeed go to any other page on the site instantly.

If, however, the page requested is on an external linked site, then should you spend some time navigating that site you may need to click the back
button on your browser a considerable number of times to return to Kev's Place.
Opening those pages in a separate tab or window means you can easily return when you wish. In fact merely closing the tab or window you were
looking at, should normally take you straight back to the page you left on Kev's Place.

If the clock on the front page is accurate, why does it change when I use it to set my computers clock?

O.K. This is complicated but I'll try and explain as simply as I can! The clock on the front page is indeed accurate and takes it's time from the websites
server. If however it were to continue in this manner then it would have to check the time every second! This would put a very heavy load on the server and slow the whole site down to a crawl

In order to avoid this, a rather clever little program comes into play. Once the time has been noted a calculation is made of the difference between the
true time and the computer clocks time, The progam then allows for this and synchronises the clock on the home page with the computers clock after
adding or subtracting any time difference. It then uses the computers clock to keep time (As the computers clock is unlikely to gain or lose more than a
few tenths of a second, even if you are on the site for a long time, then this can still be considered a very accurate clock.)

However, if you adjust your clock whilst displaying the page, the program will continue to compensate with any original time error.

There is no need to worry though. To set your computers clock to the accurate time, just go ahead and adjust it to the second with the clock on the
home page. (only do this once!) Then close the browser and log on again. This will force the clock to get the precise time again from the server and
you will now find your computer and the clock agree.

Sorry that was so long winded, but I did mention it was complicated!
